How to make a bad day, better!
08:42Having had so many bad years in my past – whenever I have bad day I
know that it can’t go on for days and days because that’ll become
cyclical – but having had so many bad days, I know what I personally
need to do to make them more bearable, and so some of these tips may be
able to help you too!
Now, I know when you’re having a bad day you can’t just drop everything you have planned. If its say college/uni/a meeting these things have to be attended to, and this means – being strong and powering through it. On the flip side, say your plans include going to the cinema with your friends – this can be a good and a bad thing. If you don’t want to go – simply don’t go. But I would recommend socializing if it helps. For example, hanging out with my best friend really helps me so if she asked me to go shopping or to the cinema I would probably go because she’d make me laugh. If however we were gong to be going out with a large group of people – I would probably stay home because socializing drains my energy and I wouldn’t want to deal with having to make small talk with tons of different people.
So after all my priorities are done, as quickly as possible – I like to literally make a blanket fort, or get into bed – just anything comfortable and avoid the world. Now obviously this isn’t going to work for everyone but this works for me. I like to get snacks/food next to my bed and grab my laptop. And honestly I watch cartoons, my favourite movies, read books and even watch children’s shows because they make me feel like I’m six years old and innocent again.
Music has got to be the single most important aspect of my life – I love it, and it never fails to leave my side time after time. One weird little thing I like to do when I’m feeling really down is listen to christmas music – like Merry Christmas everyone by Shakin’ Stevens. It brings back a kind of nostalgia that isn’t too strong that it makes me want to cry, but is perfect to make me a little more jolly…plus the mood isn’t ruined by the sun since its england – and we barely get a summer. So the weather for once totally helps with the vibe.
Another thing I like to do is go for a walk – with my earphones in of course. You can literally go to a park if you have one nearby, or just walk around the block. It really doesn’t matter. It sound cliche – but its really good to clear your mind. It provides a new atmosphere which is different to the places your usually in and clears the mind. Hopefully when I get my driver’s license I can switch this up to going for late night drives.
Also, if you have the money, a train ticket to a different city can also be a really good change – it doesn’t have to be any big place, it can literelly be a place that takes thirty mintues to get to.
And lastly? Try to have an early night. Sometimes a bad day (or an unlucky week) just doesn't let up, and a good, healthy sleep, can really fix that. There is nothing better for a bad day than just waiting for it to end, but when you wake up the next morning – have a fresh perspective of ‘today is going to be a good day’ because by thinking the day is going to be as bad as the last…you’re already setting yourself up for failure.
And those are some of my tips..what do you guys like to do when having a bad day? Comment below, I’d love to know. xx
